Disturbing Footage Captures Point Officers Are Stabbed in Ambush

The Two Sergeants Moments Prior to the Aggressor Was Tasered

A police sergeant that leaped to the assistance of a partner who was ambushed by a knifeman has been awarded the Monarch's Honor for Courage.

Sergeant Tim Ansell struggled against 27-yr-old Jacob Brown after he held a blade to the throat of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the officers and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist after a road collision in Whalley Range in summer 2023.

Brown knifed and cut both Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a stun gun.

"Officer knifed," the constable was heard to say over his radio.

Officer-mounted and vehicle camera footage made public by the police department depicted Brown, that was clothed in black with a head covered, rush to Sgt Foster from behind with a blade outstretched.

He ran into the policeman who stumbled and dropped to the ground, before Sergeant Ansell jumped in and tried to wrestle him to the ground even though being multiple times hit with the weapon.

Police Constable Wolstencroft Stopped the Assailant, Jacob Brown, with a Taser

PC Wolstencroft drew his Taser and awaited a open target, bringing the fight to an end.

Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "Please provide help on my throat here, I'm bleeding in the neck."

Sgt Ansell sustained two open wounds to his neck and further cuts to his arms and body, while Sergeant Foster experienced cut injuries.

Officials stated Sgt Foster employed his hands to stem his fellow officer's blood loss before paramedics reached the scene.

The new honor follows subsequent to the three officers were granted internal Valor Recognitions in October 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the regional union branch in April 2024.

They further earned a Regional Valor Recognition in mid-2024.

"The actions of the entire team ultimately saved each other and ensured no civilians suffered any injuries."

Brown was sentenced to an psychiatric detention in spring 2024, as stated by officials.
